As good as new[edit | edit source]
Repair a broken device.
Fairly self-explanatory. Use a wrench or screwdriver to repair a mechanical or electrical device once it has started to deteriorate. The wrench or screwdriver must be equipped, a minimum skill level is not required and this can be accomplished from any role, however you risk lacerations (mechanical) or burns (electrical) with lower skill levels.
Getting clean[edit | edit source]
Recover from an opiate addiction.
An opiate addiction can be obtained through a few doses of opium, morphine, or fentanyl. Recovering from an opiate addiction requires naloxone, or lots of time. You can apply these to yourself through the heal "H" menu.
Don't you die on me![edit | edit source]
Heal someone back from a critical state.
When someone goes into critical state and collapses, applying medical treatment on them to revitalize them will grant you this achievement. You can usually achieve this by attacking a bot and then healing them after they go into critical.
Smooth sailing[edit | edit source]
Complete a round without any casualties or damage to the submarine.
Easy to do on exceptionally low difficulties.
Stop the hammertime[edit | edit source]
Kill a Hammerhead.
A hammerhead is one of the creatures in the game that you can get a mission to kill. Starting a "Mission" on a server with the "Monster" mission type is the best chance to get this mission. You can also come across this mission through the Campaign, and (although perhaps rarely/only at higher difficulty) you may come across hammerheads naturally during your travels.
Freighter[edit | edit source]
Complete a cargo mission.
Again, starting a "Mission" on a server with the "Cargo" mission type is the best chance to get this mission. However you will also come across cargo missions during the Campaign.
The Cold Caverns[edit | edit source]
Discover the Cold Caverns.
This is the first section of the campaign map and you should "discover" the Cold Caverns when you first start the Campaign.
This is fine.[edit | edit source]
Face a complete and utter disaster.
Reach maximum Intensity level. The majority of the ships hull would be breached, systems/devices damaged, etc. Your survival is not required. A nuclear meltdown on its own is insufficient.
Here I recognize no superiors[edit | edit source]
Complete a round as a Captain.
Fairly self-explanatory. Easily completed on your own, either in singleplayer campaign or on any of the game modes on a multiplayer server.
Whatever works[edit | edit source]
Kill something with a plasma cutter, welding tool, or a wrench.
Fairly self-explanatory. Aim by holding right mouse button, fire (swing) with left mouse button.
Novice seafarer[edit | edit source]
Travel over 10 kilometers.
Fairly self-explanatory, this should only take about 3 or 4 complete rounds.
Ever increasing in speed and power[edit | edit source]
Complete a round as an Electrical Engineer.
Self-explanatory, requires another human player to be the captain.
Truth in simplicity[edit | edit source]
Complete a round as a Mechanic.
Self-explanatory, requires another human player to be the captain.
Xenoarchaeologist[edit | edit source]
Complete an artifact mission.
Starting a "Mission" with the mission type "Salvage" is the easiest way to get this mission. You can also come across this mission in the Campaign. Be aware that some artifacts can be dangerous, such as constantly being on fire when out of the water!
I am the law[edit | edit source]
Complete a round as a Security Officer.
Self-explanatory, requires another human player to be the captain.
According to ability and judgment[edit | edit source]
Complete a round as a Medical Doctor.
Self-explanatory, requires another human player to be the captain.
Extravehicular activity[edit | edit source]
Venture 500 meters away from the sub.
Can be accomplished with a Diving Suit and an Underwater Scooter. Easiest with a bot in your crew. Put on a diving suit, get out the airlock, then use the command menu to get the bot to "Navigate to Destination" while you just hang out at the starting outpost. Once you get the achievement, command them to "Navigate Back".
Praise the Honkmother[edit | edit source]
Obtain a full clown costume.
Easily done by editing your submarine of choice in the submarine editor and providing a full clown costume (Clown Mask and Clown Costume) in one of the lockers. Otherwise, they can be found on bodies or in lockers of wrecks. Some ships such as the Typhon have guaranteed locations for clown suits.
The Europan Ridge[edit | edit source]
Discover the Europan Ridge.
The second section of the Campaign map. Discover by making enough progress through the campaign map.
Killed a Moloch[edit | edit source]
Take down a Moloch.
Similar to the hammerhead achievement, a moloch is one of the creatures in the game that you can get a mission to kill. Starting a "Mission" on a server with the "Monster" mission type is the best chance to get this mission. You can also come across this mission through the Campaign, and (although perhaps rarely/only at higher difficulty) you may come across molochs naturally during your travels.
Not on my watch[edit | edit source]
Take down a traitor before they manage to complete their objective.
This requires you to be in a multiplayer server with the "Traitors" set to "Maybe" or "Yes". Requires another human to be the traitor.
I am the cure[edit | edit source]
Cure a husk infection.
Not achievable by curing other players. First, inject yourself with Velonaceps Calyx Eggs and wait until the Husk Infection affliction is visible on your HUD. Then, inject yourself with Calyxanide and/or Broad-Spectrum Antibiotics until the infection is cured and you obtain the achievement.
Do what you love[edit | edit source]
Complete a round as an Assistant.
Self-explanatory, requires another human player to be the captain.
Insurgency[edit | edit source]
Successfully complete a traitor objective.
This requires you to be in a multiplayer server with the "Traitors" set to "Maybe" or "Yes". However, since you are going to be the traitor, you can unlock this achievement on your own with a crew of bots. They'll never see it coming.
Underwater coffin[edit | edit source]
Complete a wreck salvage mission.
Starting a "Mission" with the mission type "Salvage" is the easiest way to get this mission, though you can also come across this mission in the Campaign. Be aware that some wrecks have a Thalamus in them, with Fleshguns that will impale your ship, while other wrecks have husks hiding inside of them. If your ship gets impaled, the only way to get away is to destroy/kill the fleshgun ammo sacks just inside the top hull of the wreck and/or the thalamus brain, usually near the bottom of the wreck. If there are husks in the wreck, you will need someone with firearms to kill them, and maybe you if you get bitten.
No fun allowed[edit | edit source]
Kill a clown.
Stun a bot, grab them (to have access to their inventory), put the clown costume on them. For obtaining a clown costume, see the achievement, Praise the Honkmother.
Last man standing[edit | edit source]
Complete a round along after everyone else in the crew has perished.
Not equivalent to completing a round by yourself. Easily done in sandbox, 0% difficulty, crew of 3-4 bots. Complete the journey successfully, then right before docking, dispatch your crewmembers. Or do it the old-fashioned way and wait for a catastrophic failure that only you have the brains to survive, and then put the sub back together, and then make it to the destination.
Nuclear blast survivor[edit | edit source]
Complete a round after a nuclear meltdown.
Again, easiest to essentially complete the round and then induce a meltdown at the destination, repair, then dock. The old-fashioned way is doable, especially with an incompetent engineer or a very hurt submarine.
Gotta go fast[edit | edit source]
Accelerate a submarine to over 100 km/h.
Easiest to edit the "Max Force" of the engine of your submarine of choice in the sub editor. Manual steering is the best way to push a sub to its limits. Does not require you to survive.
Viva la Revolution[edit | edit source]
Defeat the Coalition crew in a submarine-vs-submarine mission.
In the combat mission, defeat the coalition as the renegades. Can be achieved by hosting a multiplayer server in the "Mission" game mode, selecting the "Combat" mission type and killing the entire crew of the submarine at the destination.
I am become death[edit | edit source]
Kill something with nuclear explosives.
Kill something (whether crew or aliens) with nuclear devices such as Nuclear Railgun Shells or Nuclear Depth Charges.
The Aphotic Plateau[edit | edit source]
Discover the Aphotic Plateau.
Reach the third section of the campaign map.
A gaze into the abyss[edit | edit source]
Take the submarine down to crush depth and survive.
Unlocked by going beneath Crush Depth and then returning above it. Your Navigation Terminal will warn you in red text when you have gone deep enough to reach crush depth. Usually, crush depth will not be easily accessible on normal biomes such as the Cold Caverns, so you will have to find a hole on the bottom of the map, or locate the hole at the ending of the map and leave the tunnels that restrict you from going that deep. As the name implies, crush depth will gradually wear on all your walls and eventually sink your ship, so steer up immediately once as you reach the depth or you will not be able to leave. You do not need to arrive at your destination to get this achievement.
For the Coalition[edit | edit source]
Defeat the Renegades in a submarine-vs-submarine mission.
Tempted to say "Achieved by hosting a multiplayer server in the "Mission" game mode, selecting the "Combat" mission type and killing the entire crew of the submarine at the destination." However, I always seem to spawn as the Renegades. Further research required.
Experienced seafarer[edit | edit source]
Travel over 100 kilometers.
Self-explanatory. Regularly steering in faster subs will unlock this achievement more quickly.
Xenocide[edit | edit source]
Kill 100 creatures.
Any way, any how. You are more likely to get this achievement faster by playing security.
[edit | edit source]
Spend 24 hours in the submarine editor in total.
Obtaining this achievement is self explanatory. You can manually wait if you want by leaving the game open, but if you attempt to build a polished sub, you will probably obtain this achievement anyway. Make sure you have cheats disabled while in the editor.
The lone sailor[edit | edit source]
Complete a round alone from start to finish.
Easiest to complete in sandbox mode at 0% difficulty. This means no humans or bots can accompany you.
Poisoner[edit | edit source]
Kill something with morbusine.
This achievement is bugged due to Morbusine always indirectly killing the player. Morbusine is a neurotoxin that can be administered through the heal "H" menu, or equipped in your hands, right mouse to aim, left mouse to swing. Pretty sure "something" includes crewmates, creatures, and yourself. But none of those have worked yet! Further research required. Note: inflicitng morubsine poisoining with the unique weapon "Europan Handshake" against a non-bot player unlocks this achievement.
Enter the Void[edit | edit source]
Discover the Great Void.
Reach the fourth section of the campaign map.
The Hydrothermal Wastes[edit | edit source]
Discover the Hydrothermal Wastes.
Reach the penultimate section of the campaign map.
Where no man has gone before[edit | edit source]
Descend below 5000 meters.
Easily achievable by hosting your own server and enabling respawn with a short timer like 10 seconds, but disabling the respawn shuttle (so that players respawn on your submarine). Find a hole in the bottom of the map and steer straight down. When you inevitably die to crush depth, you will be respawned again 10 seconds later, and again, and again. Wait until you reach 5K and claim your reward. Alternatively, you can create a custom sub made of only doors and hatches, as these do not break from pressure.
[edit | edit source]
Kill 100 humans.
Kill 100 Human Beings. Achievable through killing bots and humans alike. The more considerate way to do it may be through mass-murder in singleplayer campaign.
The bigger they are, the harder they fall[edit | edit source]
Kill an Endworm.
Disclaimer: Only achievable by editing the game files.
Warning: Do not attempt if you are inexperienced with file editing. Always make backups of your files.
Note: Once the achievement is obtained, exit the game and verify the files through steam. Otherwise, you won't be able to play on multiplayer servers.
To make the Endworm mission possible to get, first go to [Steam Directory]\steamapps\common\Barotrauma\Content\Missions.xml and start editing the file. Next, search for the term, "Beast from the Abyss". This should take you to the section you need to edit. Next, uncomment the section by removing the after the section.
Secondly, add a line above type="Monster"
and type in tags="killmonster,killswarm"
.
Next, change the number next to commonness="1"
to commonness="100"
. This should make the mission almost guaranteed to get.
Then, copy all of the possible location types from the previous section to this section, overwriting where it says <LocationType from="XXXX" to="Lair"/>
.
Finally, save the file, open the game, and start a server with only monster type missions on.
Once the Endworm is killed, you should get the achievement.
The end is the beginning[edit | edit source]
Finish the campaign.
Self-explanatory. Reach the end of the campaign mode for the first time.
