Hello visitor! A note about the contents of this wiki: Barotrauma is a game with several years' worth history as a free-download open source game, and this wiki has been written primarily based on this legacy version. As such, not all content is relevant to the Steam release. So please wait patiently as the contents are updated, and feel free to contribute new information once the Steam version of Barotrauma is released!

Orders

Orders are instructions used in single player to direct the AI-controlled crew. While the crew will take initiatives on their own, orders help them react in more intelligent ways. Note that as of version 0.3.5.0 the AI is quite buggy, directed or not, so it may be preferable to order the crew members to wait in key locations (perhaps deactivating the crew AI altogether using the "disablecrewai" console command) and manually take control of them as needed rather than to rely on their wits.

Fix Leaks[edit | edit source]

The targeted crew member will equip a Welding Tool and begin to seek and repair hull breaches.

Follow[edit | edit source]

The targeted crew member will follow the order-giving character until dismissed. Useful to bring a crew member to a given area.

Operate Railgun[edit | edit source]

Fire At Will[edit | edit source]

The targeted crew member will man the nearest Railgun, firing at any creature in range and loading one shell into the railgun magazine when it is empty.

Hold Fire[edit | edit source]

The targeted crew member will man the nearest Railgun, but will not fire.

Operate Reactor[edit | edit source]

The targeted crew member will balance the temperature of the Nuclear Reactor to bring the power produced in line with the power currently required by the crew's activities. If necessary, the operator will seek fuel rods to add to the reactor.

Wait[edit | edit source]

The targeted crew member will stop all activities and stay in place until counter-order. This order is very useful in preventing AIs to carry out counter-productive decisions.

Dismissed[edit | edit source]

The targeted crew member will discontinue any previous order and resume following its own decisions.
