The Welding Tool is a tool that can be operated in Barotrauma. It is essential, as it allows crew members to repair the submarine.
Function
Welding tools are able to repair structures such as walls and windows. They can also be used to seal doors. The only way to un-seal a door again is by using a Plasma Cutter on it.
Structures being affected by the welding tool are highlighted by a rectangle. The color of said rectangle determines the condition of the structure: a greener color indicating that the structure is in a stable condition and a redder color to reflect a poor condition. When the structure is about to break the rectangle will begin dissipating.
Welding tools can be used in junction with Wrenches to perform mechanical repairs on installations which require them.
Usage
The welding tool requires both hands to equip. Holding down the right-click (mouse2) button will aim it in whichever direction your cursor is positioned. Holding down the left-click (mouse1) button will activate the tool, affecting any structures within its range.
If a player attempts to use a welding tool without the appropriate skill level, it will only operate at 1/4th the efficiency.

The welding tool uses a Welding Fuel Tank as fuel. It is a separate, expendable item.
When inside an inventory, the welding fuel tank can be dragged on to a welding tool to attach it. While the welding tool is in use, the tank will slowly deteriorate. Viewing the tank inside the inventory will display a meter indicating how much fuel is left.
Unlike the Oxygen Tank, welding fuel tanks can not be refilled.
When a welding fuel tank comes into contact with fire, it explodes.

Trivia
- It is possible to attach an oxygen tank to the welding tool, though the tool will no longer function.
- Likewise, a welding fuel tank can be attached to a Diving Mask or Diving Suit. Attaching it to the mask causes the player to die from asphyxiation and attaching it to the suit does nothing.
